About The Litter Logic

The Litter Logic exists for one reason: buying cat litter shouldn't require a chemistry degree or blind trust in star ratings. We compare litters the way a careful friend would — on odor control that actually works, dust you can see, tracking you'll sweep, and what it really costs per month.

About the editor

Danish Javaid is the editor of The Litter Logic, covering cat-litter products and practical litter-box care through documented research and clear comparisons.

How we pick products

  1. Define the use case first. “Best” is meaningless without “for whom.” Every guide starts from explicit requirements — apartment or house, one cat or five, scented or unscented.
  2. Score on verified fields only. We rank candidates on specifications and attributes we can document, with weights set before scoring — not after.
  3. Publish the reasoning. Why #1 beats #2 for this use case, and the situations where #1 should not be chosen.
  4. Flag what we don't know. Missing data gets a warning, not a guess.

Specifications over superlatives

We score litters on verified specifications and documented suitability criteria — odor-control technology, dust ratings, materials, and real pricing. If we haven't run a test ourselves, we say exactly what we did instead.

Trade-offs, not just winners

Every recommendation names who it is NOT for. The best litter for a studio apartment is rarely the best litter for a five-cat household, and we say so.

Money, disclosed

We earn commissions through affiliate links clearly marked on every page. It never changes our rankings — our selection method is published and repeatable.

A note on expertise

We are experienced cat owners and meticulous researchers — not veterinarians. Where health or safety questions come up (crystal litter safety, flushability, respiratory concerns), we cite veterinary sources and encourage you to confirm with your own vet. See our affiliate disclosure for how the site is funded.
